Local Little League hopes rest with Ancaster

Stoney Creek Optimist Little League dropped its third consecutive game at the District 1 Championships, losing 3-2 to Ancaster. The loss put Ancaster and Stoney Creek into a tie for fourth place but because Ancaster defeated Stoney Creek, Ancaster moves on.

The remaining top four teams in the round-robin tourney now meet in the semifinals, beginning today (Wednesday, July 16) at Toronto’s High Park. Ancaster will play first place finishers High Park in a 6 p.m. game while third-place Oakville meets second-place Erindale.

The championship game will be played at 7 p.m. on Thursday July 17. The District 1 champions advance to the provincial tournament in Timmins starting on Tuesday, July 22.
