Mohawk players give Brantford ladies a boost

Members of the Mohawk College fastball team were key contributors to the Brantford Lady Red Sox Intermediates which captured the bronze medal at the recent Provincial Women’s Softball Association (PWSA) Intermediate Tier 1 championships.

Six Mountaineers play for the Brantford squad which bodes well for Mohawk when the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association fastball seasons gets underway in the fall.

Mohawk’s bronze medalists included Michelle James, Samantha Tubman, Casey Ramey, Jenny Koschanow, Jill Larlee, and Nicole Miller.

In addition to the players, Mohawk’s assistant coach Rob Winton and former Mountaineer head coach and Mohawk Hall of Famer Doug Parry made the podium.

Also participating in the tournament was current Mohawk head coach Brian Weller, who was with the Hamilton Hurricanes.

The Hamilton Pontiacs won the title and will head to Quebec in the next couple of weeks to participate in the Eastern Canadian Women’s Intermediate Fastpitch Championship.
