Dundas resident Meagan Nederveen has been awarded one of three Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations Alumni Scholarships for 2008.
The student at St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton was involved in all aspects of school life – sports, athletic council, and student government. She not only participated in cross country, track and field, volleyball and soccer, but also gave back to sport by assisting with the development of a house league for elementary students in local schools.
School sport has taught Meagan how to deal with adversity in a positive manner, how to understand and appreciate the impact of hard work and strong leadership, and has shaped her views on goal setting and success. Despite a heavy workload, she has maintained a high academic standing and plans to study kinesiology at McMaster next year.
The other recipients were Alistair Beauprie (Gloucester) and Stephanie Godard (Toronto).
