Cal Ripken Baseball T-Ball teams from Binbrook, Battlefield (Stoney Creek/East Hamilton), and Robert Land (North Central Hamilton) leagues for players aged 4-7 end their season in style with a year-end tournament Saturday (Aug. 16) at Edwards Memorial Park in Binbrook (Golf Club Rd just west of Woodburn Rd).
This tournament will crown the first-ever Cal Ripken T-Ball City of Hamilton champions.
The games are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. with three contests being played every hour until 5 p.m. when the winners of three divisions and a wild card will playoff for the championship. The championship game is scheduled to start at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Diamond 1.
ACE, the Toronto Blue Jays mascot, will be on paw for the opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. and will visit players and pose for photographs for a couple hours. The Bruce Power Blue Jays road show will also drop by for a few hours to keep the players active between games.
Included in the day’s events will be the semifinal and final game of the Cal Ripken Rookie (ages 8-10) tournament which was washed out last weekend. The semifinals are scheduled for 5 p.m. and the finals at 6:45 p.m on Diamond 2.
It has been a successful first season for Binbrook and a terrific second season for Battlefield and Robert Land. Almost 250 players aged 4-12 played Cal Ripken Baseball this summer.
