Little Leaguers gather in Stoney Creek for Labour Day Classic

Eleven teams from Ontario will participate in Stoney Creek Optimist Little League’s annual Labour Day Classic Minor Little League All-Star Tournament over the weekend. The baseball tournament will have two divisions, one for 9-year-olds and one for 10-year-olds.

In the division for nine year-olds, Stoney Creek will be host to teams from Ancaster, Toronto High Park, Oakville, and Waterdown. Teams will play each other once in the preliminary round. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals on Sunday with those winners advancing to the finals at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

In the 10-year-olds’ division, Stoney Creek will welcome teams from Dundas, Erindale, High Park, Oakville, and South Ottawa. The six teams have been divided into two pools of three. Teams will play each team in the other pool. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the semi-finals on Sunday. The teams that lose in the semi-finals will face each other in the consolation game while the winners of the semi-finals will play for the 2008 SCOLL Minor Labour Day Tournament Championship.

All tournament games will be played at Optimist Little League Park in Stoney Creek, off of Highway 8 starting on Friday Aug. 29 and concluding on Sunday Aug. 31.
