Wings clip A’s, Pirates are top rookies in Cal Ripken play

After a long day, five games, a visit from Toronto Blue Jays mascot ACE and the Blue Jays Bruce Power road show, the Battlefield Cal Ripken T-Ball A’s came up just short in the recent City Championships tournament held in Binbrook losing 12-10 to the Binbrook Reds.

The Battlefield A’s show their second place prize. The team came up just short against Binbrook.

The Battlefield Cal Ripken White Sox finished in a third-place tie.

The Binbrook Pirates, who won the inaugral Cal Ripken rookie division, pose with their medals.

Meanwhile, the Binbrook Pirates won the inaugural Cal Ripken Rookie division (ages 8-10 with pitching machine) handily over a combined team of Red Sox and Devil Rays from Robert Land Community Centre (North Hamilton).

The Robert Land combined Red Sox and Devil Rays team upset the first place Padres in their semi-final.

The Robert Land squad earned their spot in the championship game against the league’s first-place team by upsetting the league’s second-place team, Battlefield Padres, 8-5. The tournament was finished on Aug 16 because of rain a week earlier.

All players played hard and enjoyed time with the Toronto Blue Jays Bruce Power Road Show when not on the field playing.
