Rugby Mountaineers roll along with fourth straight win


The Mohawk rugby team scored it’s fourth consecutive victory, downing the Conestoga Condors 31-24 at Mohawk Sports Park on Saturday (Oct. 4).

Steve Johnston had two tries for the Mountaineers. Adam Davidson, Tyler Struyk and John Isbister also scored for the winners, while James Cumpson contributed three converts. Struyk had to leave the game with about 15 minutes to go as he required stitches after an opponent stepped on his hand.

Conestoga got two tries from Jake Vandyk, Matt Jolie had a try and two conversions and Tim Reitzel scored a try. The Mountaineers are now off until Thursday, Oct. 16 when Seneca visits for an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association
game.
