The Mohawk Mountaineers came home from the Humber Cup Volleyball Tournament in Etobicoke Saturday (Nov. 1) with a gold medal for the men and a silver for the women.
The men’s team, which finished pool play with a record of 8-2, just one game back of Algonquin, downed Seneca 25-20, 25-18 in the semi finals, then swept Algonquin 25-21, 25-20 in the championship match.
The Mohawk women, wound up 7-3 in pool play, while Humber rolled to a perfect 10-0 in the preliminaries and Nipissing was 9-1.
The Mountaineers went out and downed Nipissing 25-19, 25-11 in the semis, before losing a heartbreaker to Humber in the final. The scores were 25-22, 16-25, 13-15.
