Mohawk women double winners in exhibition volleyball

Mohawk’s volleyball teams each posted wins in exhibition matches at Fanshawe College in London on Sunday (Nov.16).

The women Mountaineers swept the Durham Lords 3-0 in their official match. They then elected to play a fourth set, losing to the Oshawa side but Mohawk coach Brian McEnhill used that game to get his bench some playing time. It was a good weekend for the Mohawk women, who topped Ottawa Algonquin 3-1 on Saturday.

The Mohawk men, beaten 3-1 by Algonquin on Saturday, bounced back for a 3-2 decision over Durham on Sunday. Coach James Bradley, who did not have all of his personnel for the weekend, used the opportunity to move some of his players around to see what they could do.

Both teams are back to regular Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play on Wednesday (Nov. 19) when they visit the Redeemer Royals in Ancaster. The women go first at 6 p.m., the men at 8 p.m.
