Run at the top on hold ’til the New Year

Dundas Real McCoys were intent on making a serious run at first place in the 2008-09 Major League Hockey standings before the Christmas break, but Jack Frost has put all that on hold until Jan. 2 because of the weather.

Friday’s (Dec. 19) game at home against the Baltimore Clippers and Saturday’s (Dec. 20) match in Whitby against the Dunlops were both postponed. The game with Baltimore has been tentatively rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 20 in the JL Grightmire Arena. Game time will be 7:45 p.m.

No date for the Whitby game has been set.

Next action for the Real McCoys will be Friday, Jan. 2 when they are scheduled to play at Brantford against the Blast at 8 p.m.

The McCoys’ traditional Teddy Bear Toss, the Turkey Raffle, and Night with the Team events draw have been re-scheduled for Friday, Jan. 9 when the Norwood Vipers are in town for a 7:45 p.m. puck drop.

Entering the weekend, Dundas was three points behind the league-leading Dunlops with two games in hand on their eastern rivals. Whitby leads with 12 wins and five losses while Dundas has 10 wins, four losses and an overtime loss.
