McCoys topple league leaders, close to within one point


Dundas Real McCoys got a three-point night from Justin Davis – two goals and an assist – and moved to within one point of the league leading Whitby Dunlops on Friday night (Jan. 16).

Davis’ efforts sparked the Real McCoys to a 5-1 romp over the Dunlops at the J.L. Grightmire Arena in Dundas and left the McCoys with 27 points in second place in the Major Hockey League. Dundas has two games in hand.

Nick Smith and Ryan Christie each had a goal and two assists to support Davis and Shawn Shewchuk had the other Dundas goal.

Goalie Mike Minard, who stopped 27 of 28 shots, also picked up an assist.

Three of the Real McCoys goals came while on the power play. Whitby scored its lone marker with a man advantage situation.

Dundas resumes league play on Friday, Jan. 24 again the Brantford Blast. Game time is 7:45 p.m. at the J.L. Grightmire Arena.
