Mountain volleyball boys strike gold again


Mountain Athletic Club Volleyball 14U boys won their second consecutive gold medal at the Challenge Cup Championship tournament at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough College campus on the weekend (Feb. 7-8).

In pool play, MAC defeated Toronto West, 25-18, 25-22, and the Barrie Elites, 25-18, 25-9. Meeting the Storm Fury in the quarter finals, MAC swept them aside, 25-12, 25-20, and remained undefeated after disposing of the Scarborough Titan Marauders, 25-16, 25-21 in the semi finals.

In a close championship match, MAC came out on top of the Pakmen, 25-21, 22-25, 15-7.

The team is coached by Mark Wu and Paul Guagliano. The MAC 14U team athletes include Austin MacInctyre, Campbellville; Brad Albay, Hamilton; Brandon Gomez, Hamilton; Brendan Kewin, Milton; Calvin Bond, Dunnville; Chris Silva, Oakville; Marco Folino, Oakville; Marcus Wu, Hamilton; Michael Susi, Ancaster; Mikhail Kazhamiaka. Waterloo; Onkar Bedi, Oakville; and Ryan Guagliano, Hamilton.
