The Sheridan Bruins handed the visiting Mohawk Mountaineers a pair of losses in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association basketball at the Davis Campus in Brampton on Tuesday (Feb. 10).
In women’s action, the Bruins rolled to their 12th consecutive victory, 76-39, over the Mountaineers, now 4-9.
Katie Daniels (Saltfleet) led Mohawk with 15 points. Brittany Brooks (Delhi District) scored six points and Michelle Abella (St. Jean de Brebeuf) added five.
Coach Kelly Dunham, who saw her team trail by 28 at the break, said her side competed at both ends of the court in the second half. “We were patient on offence, worked the ball inside and out and made the right choices on offence”, said Dunham. “We reached our goal in the second half and played with confidence and as a team.”
In men’s play, Sheridan scored a 96-77 decision to improve to 11-5, while Mohawk dropped to 5-12.
Mountaineers’ coach Brian Jonker said it was very similar to many of his team’s games over the last month. “We battled for most of the game, but turned the ball over far too often.”
Ryan Carrafiello (St. Thomas More) led Mohawk with 15 points. Alen Beader (Glendale) and Tyler Kam (St. Thomas More) had 13 points apiece.
