Denis caulks up fifth AHL goose egg this season

A 45-save effort from Marc Denis was converted into his fifth shutout this American Hockey League season and gave the Hamilton Bulldogs a 2-0 win over the Norfolk Admirals.

After playing through a scoreless first period on Friday night (Feb.13) in Norfolk, Hamilton used a 5-on-3 power-play at 16:20 of the middle frame to break the ice. Brock Trotter sent a pass to David Desharnais, who was positioned in the slot. His slapshot sailed past Norfolk goaltender Riku Helenius who was tested 26 times during the game.

Hamilton added it second goal at 7:08 of the final frame. Dan Jancevski collected the puck before feeding a pass to Steve Gainey standing at the side of the net. He tapped the puck into the goal before Helenius could cover the opening.

The Bulldogs continue their five-game road trip playing in Wilkes-Barre against the Penguins at 7:05 p.m., on Saturday night. Fans can listen to every ‘Dogs game on radio station 820. All regular-season broadcasts begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to faceoff.
