Ice Image novices advance with first place showing

Ice Image from the Burlington Skating Club placed first in the novice category at the Central Regional Festival of Synchronized Skating this weekend (Feb. 14-15) in Newmarket.

Ice Image scored 81.01 points and will advance to the National Festival of Synchronized Skating to be held in Oshawa from Feb. 26 to March 1. The 2009 BMO Skate Canada Festival of Synchronized Skating will be held in conjunction with the 2009 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Nationals.

Teams qualify to compete at the National Festival of Synchronized Skating by placing in the top six in Novice, Junior, Open and Adult categories.

Also competing at the Central Regional Festival but not advancing were: Junior – Team Sirius, Wentworth, 73.13 points, 13th; Pre-Novice – Dazzling Diamonds, South Dumfries, 35.83 points, seventh; Juvenile – Ice Image, Burlington, 34.77 points, sixth; Adult – Crystal Formations, Brant, 38.87 points, 17th; Masters – Angels, Ancaster, 53.81, third; Classic Image, Burlington, 37.62, eighth.
