The Mountain Athletic Club 14-Under boys won their third consecutive gold medal at the Hawkins Cup in Barrie.
In pool play and the playoffs Mac 14U defeated the Predators, 25-21, 25-16; Durham Attack Black, 25-18, 25-19; the Pakmen, 22-25, 25-17, 15-10. In the semi-finals MAC swept past Riverside Rage, 22-25, 25-18, 15-11 before meeting up with the Predators again to repeat as gold medalists, 25-17, 25-15.
Meanwhile, at the 15U Bugarski Cup in Hamilton, a combination MAC 14U-15U team won the silver medal.
In pool play, MAC finished first, defeating the ACTS Elites, 24-26, 25-19, 15-13, and the Wolf Pack, 25-13, 25-15. In the quarter finals, MAC defeated the Predators, 27-25, 25-13. In the semifinals, MAC beat the Waterloo Tigers Black, 25-21, 25-22. They eventually fell to the Ottawa Roos, 20-25, 14-24, for the silver medal.
The MAC 14U team is coached by Mark Wu and Paul Guagliano, both of Hamilton.
