After losing in overtime 24 hours earlier, the Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Chicago Wolves 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night. Brock Trotter had two assists and the game-winner in the shootout.
The Bulldogs opened the game’s scoring at 4:30 of the first period. Mike Glumac received a pass from David Desharnais before releasing a shot that sailed over the right shoulder of Chicago starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec. Trotter earned an assist on the goal.
The Wolves tied the game 1-1 at 18:25 of the middle stanza with power-play goal. Jamie Rivers fed a pass to Chad Denny, who one-timed a shot on net. The puck sailed over the left shoulder of Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis.
Chicago added its second goal on the power play at 2:35 of the final frame. Clay Wilson sent a pass to Brett Skinner, who rifled a shot that just went under the crossbar and past Denis.
Hamilton tied the game at 3:44 of the final frame. Following a scrum in front of the net a loose puck bounced onto the stick of Yannick Weber, who was stationed at the top of the right faceoff circle. Weber blasted a shot that beat Pavelec on the inside post.
The game went to overtime but neither team was able to score. In the shootout Yanick Lehoux and Trotter scored for Hamilton while Brett Skinner scored the only goal on Denis.
