Late gust pushes Admirals past Bulldogs


Mike Santorelli’s two goals, just under three minutes apart in the final period, handed the Milwaukee Admirals a 3-2 American Hockey League win at the expense of the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday (March 22).

The visiting Bulldogs opened the game’s scoring at 3:31 of the first period when Mathieu Aubin slid a pass to Ryan White. His wrist shot eluded goalie Mark Dekanich. But seven minutes later the Admirals knotted the count on the strength of Kelsey Wilson’s goal. He banged a rebound past netminder Cedrick Desjardins.

Mike Glumac’s goal 3:21 of the middle frame restored Hamilton’s lead. Ben Maxwell and Doug Janik picked up assists on Glumac’s 31st goal of the season. It was Maxwell’s second assist o0n the night.

At 9:10 of the final frame, Santorelli tipped the puck past Desjardins to even matters at 2-2. Then with the man advantage at 10:04, Santorelli scored what would stand as the game-winner.

Hamilton was outshot 39-17 with a crowd of 9,154 watching.
The Bulldogs return to Copps Coliseum – after a five-game road swing – on Tuesday (March 24) for a 7:30 p.m. game against the San Antonio Rampage.
