MAC 17U girls hold their own in 18U competition

The 27th seeded Mountain Athletic Club volleyball 17-under girls finished fifth in Division 1 at the 18U Provincial Championships in Waterloo.

In the recent preliminary round robin, MAC lost to the sixth seed London Forest City Green 18U team 16-25, 14-25; defeated the 11th ranked Northumberland Breakers 25-21, 23-25, 15-12 and finished the round with a 25-15, 13-25, 15-9 win over the 22nd seed Toronto Royals.

In the re-seed for the power pools on day 2, MAC opened with a loss to the second seed Aurora Storm Typhoon 25-23, 9-25, 7-15 and then stayed focused to defeat the 7th seed Ottawa National Capitals VBC 20-25, 25-22, 15-12. This was followed by a 26-24, 10-25, 12-15 loss to the 14th seed Georgetown Impact.

On day 3 in the Division 1 championship playoff pool, MAC defeated the 9th seed MAC 18U team 25-18, 18-25, 15-10 which led to the quarter finals where they lost to the 6th seed London FC 18U Green 16-25, 20-25 for a final placement of 5th, the highest placing 17U girls team in the 18U Provincials Tournament.

The MAC team is coached by Denis Levesque of Kilbride and Jenn Eccles of Burlington.
