MAC 16U boys chase down silver medal

Strong preliminary play paved the way for the Mountain Athletic Club’s 16-under boys to claim the silver medal in Division 1 Tier 1 of the 16U Provincials held in Waterloo recently.

Finishing first in their pool, MAC defeated MAC NVC, 25-16, 25-15, London Forest City Blue, 25-15, 25-17, and the Ottawa Maverick Longhorns, 25-22, 25-22. In the Tier 1 Power Pool, MAC finished ranked first, defeating Durham Attack Red, 25-14, 25-9, 25-16, and the Pakmen, 25-19, 25-20, 25-27.

In the quarter finals MAC defeated London Forest City Green, 25-17, 21-25, 15-9, and the Northumberland Breakers, 25-17, 13-25, 15-12, before losing the tournament championship match to the Crush, 13-25, 18-25.

MAC’s Eric Luangpakdy of Hamilton was recognized with the Ontario Volleyball Association Award of Excellence for playing ability and leadership.

The MAC 16U Boys team will travel to the Canadian Western Open Championships in Calgary and have qualified for the U.S. Junior National Championships in Atlanta in July.
