The Hamilton Thunderbirds scored four runs in the seventh inning to rally for their second win of the season, edging the London Majors 4-3 in senior Intercounty Baseball League play.
Trailing 3-0 at Bernie Arbour Stadium on Friday night (June 19), the host Thunderbirds scored four unearned runs in the seventh off London starter Josh Palmer, who was ejected from the game during the big inning.
Hamilton started started the season with 15 straight losses but has won two of its last three games.
Ryan Van Spronsen got the win in relief of starter Dave Hucsko. Van Spronsen went 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits with two walks before Ryan Sharpe finished up with 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit with one strikeout and one walk, to pick up the save.
Jon Saporsantos had two hits, including a double, to pace the T-Birds six-hit attack. Tim Hebner also had two hits for Hamilton.
Palmer went 6 1/3 innings before his ejection, charged with four unearned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and five walks. Perry Silverman had three hits, including a double, for the losers.
Hamilton plays in Guelph on Saturday and Oshawa visits Bernie Arbour Stadium for a 2 p.m. game on Father’s Day.
