Hamilton Wildcat PRIDE has reason to be proud

The Hamilton Wildcat PRIDE under-15 AAU girls’ basketball team captured its second tournament championship this summer in Bath, Pa., on July 19.

The Canadian girls took all four games in their division at the fourth annual Mid Summer Blast zone tournament. In the championship game, the PRIDE played a fast paced game and outplayed the Delaware Future Stars with an impressive 45-25 win. It was a real team win with all girls contributing.

The Pride’s next challenge is the HLC summer shootout tournament in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, the PRIDE is preparing for the next season. Tryouts for potential players, born in 1993/94 will begin on August 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The registration deadline for those wanting to tryout is August 15.

After the August 25 tryout at the Ancaster Rotary Centre on Jerseyville Road, the second session will take place two nights later at the Dofasco Centre, First Road East, from 8.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hopefuls will return to the Dofasco Centre on Aug. 30, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dates for September will be determined later. There is a $25 registration fee.
