First place on the line for OFC Hamilton Hurricanes

hurricnesAfter five weeks of play, the Ontario Football Conference standings are jammed at the top. Three teams have identical 4-1 records – the Hamilton Hurricanes, the Ottawa Sooners, and the St. Leonard Cougars.

The Ottawa Sooners fell from the undefeated ranks last weekend as the visiting Cougars squeaked out an 18-12 victory. The Hamilton Hurricanes continued their winning ways with a 36-2 win over the winless Burlington Braves.

For the second time, the London Beefeaters, now 2-3, defeated the Windsor AKO Fratmen who fell to 1-4 at Windsor Stadium, 25-17.

The three-way tie will be broken this weekend as the Hurricanes travel to St. Leonard Saturday night for a 7 p.m. kick off against the Cougars. The Sooners host the Fratmen Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. This game will honour the memory of Mark Johnson, a former ’Sooners player and firefighter. Friday night in London, the Beefeaters host the Braves at 7:30 p.m.
