Lack of scoring power dooms women Mountaineers

The Mohawk women’s soccer team saw its record drop to 1-4, losing 2-0 to the Redeemer Royals in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association action in Ancaster on Thursday (Sep. 24).

Mohawk head coach Renzo Castellani thought his team would open the scoring when Zalona Caruso fired the ball from 25 yards off the cross bar with the goalkeeper beaten. “We must have had 75 percent of the possession,” said Castellani. “We had lots of chances, including three or four inside the six yard box. I’m not displeased with the players’ effort. We just can’t score.”

One thing the coach was displeased with, however, was a large majority of fouls in the game called against the Mountaineers.
