A 17-3 loss on the weekend didn’t detract from the efforts of two Burlington Braves in Ontario Football Conference play.
Linebacker Adam Grilj was named OFC Outstanding Defensive Player of the Week and teammate Bartley Chadwin picked up the Outstanding Special Teams Player honours for his runback talents.
Grilj received the defensive nod, even though an injury forced him to leave the game before its completion. While on the field, he recorded 10 solo tackles, four assisted tackles, and had a fumble recovery, all for 26 defensive points.
Chadwin returned nine London kicks for a total of 213 yard. He returned three punts for 47 yards, the longest for19 yards. His three kick off returns went for 128 yards, including a 65-yarder. He also returned three missed field goal attempts for another 38 yards, the longest for 15 yards.
The Outstanding Offensive Player of the Week was quarterback Ricky Simons of the Windsor AKO Fratmen. It’s his second award of the 2009.
