Burlington’s Dan Brannagan is a double winner in Ontario University Athletics this week.
In addition to being the OUA’s football Offensive Player of the Week, the Queen’s Golden Gaels’ quarterback was also selected as a Pioneer Petroleums’ OUA Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 27.
Brannagan was outstanding in his return to the line-up on Saturday. The fifth-year quarterback had his best game in a Gaels’ uniform throwing for 543 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for another touchdown as Queen’s defeated the York Lions 67-0.
Brannagan’s career-high 543 passing yards in a single game is the fourth most all-time in OUA history.
The Female Athlete of the Week is cross-country runner Lindsay Carson of the Guelph Gryphons.
A third-year runner from Cambridge, Carson won the Western International on Sept. 26 in London. The biological engineering student helped make the 35th instalment of the meet an historic one with a record setting performance, breaking the course mark by 14 seconds and finishing at 17:01. She also helped her team break the team record and finish first atop the team standings.
All Pioneer Petroleums OUA Athletes of the Week will each receive a $25 gift card and a dri-fit t-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Petroleums.
