The Mohawk women’s volleyball team continued to prepare for the upcoming Ontario Colleges Athletic Association season. Playing four exhibition sets with the Burlington Defensa Under-17 club Thursday (Oct. 8) at the Fennell Gym, the Mountaineers ended up tying them 2-2.
“Defensa finished second in Ontario last year,” said Mohawk head coach Sean Pellow. “They are a very accomplished team for their age group. The big thing for us is that we are progressing and identifying new areas to repair and develop each time we step on the court.”
The previous night, Mohawk took four straight sets from the Burlington Blaze in an exhibition tuneup Wednesday (Oct. 7) at the Fennell Gym.
Pellow described the match as very slow and quiet.
“We are still working on our discipline defensively, so some times things seem to move a little slower during periods of transition,” said Pellow. The Mountaineers are scheduled to play Oct. 16-17 at an invitational event at Oakville’s Sheridan College.
