Mohawk’s upped its record to 3-1 and sent Conestoga to a fifth straight defeat, 34-5, in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association rugby action at Mohawk Sports Park on Saturday (Oct. 17).
The Mountaineers led 15-5 at the half as Joel Clarke and Adam Davidson each got the first of their two tries in the game, sandwiched around a John Packer score and one from the Condors. In the second half, Davidson scored his second try, Pavel Palma cracked in and then Clarke raced almost the length of the field as if to punctuate the victory. Chris VanSickle converted the last two tries.
Mohawk head coach Alex Paris was pleased with his team, saying it was a much better game than the last two.
“The score was a little bit more conducive to the way we can play,” said Paris. “(We had) good communication, tons of support around the field and the guys played hard.”
The Mountaineers move on to North York to play the Seneca Sting on Tuesday (Oct. 20).
