Amerks extend streak at expense of Bulldogs

The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Rochester Americans 4-1 at Blue Cross Arena. The win extended the Amerks winning streak to 11 games while the ‘Dogs dropped only their second game in regulation.

Rochester opened the scoring at 17:38 of the first period. Jordan Henry collected the puck before firing a shot that bounced off Hamilton goaltender Cedrick Desjardins’ glove and into the net.

The Amerks took a 2-0 lead at 6:15 of the second stanza while on the power play. Mike York received a pass from Jason Garrison before feeding the puck to Jamie Johnson, who was positioned in the slot. Johnson one-timed a shot past Desjardins. Graham Mink gave Rochester a 3-0 lead three minutes later.

Mike Glumac recorded his first goal of the season at 3:22 of the final frame while on the power play. Playing in his first game of the season, David Desharnais sent a pass to Glumac, who one-timed the puck past Rochester goalie Alexander Salak.

The Americans scored their fourth goal of the game at 8:40 of the third period. Henry blasted a shot that was redirected by Chris Taylor past Desjardins.

Hamilton outshot their hosts, 39-32.

The Bulldogs return to Copps Coliseum to host the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday (Nov. 14) at 7 p.m.
