It was not a good trip to Windsor on Saturday for Mohawk’s men’s and women’s basketball teams – both suffered defeats at the hands of the St. Clair Saints.
The St. Clair men whipped the Mountaineers 105-93. The home team led 54-38 at half time en route to squaring their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Region record at 2-2, while Mohawk saw its mark sink to 3-5.
Trevor Williams had 22 points to pace the Mountaineers. David Korenic of St. Clair led all scorers with 35 points.
The Mohawk women dropped to 1-5, losing 79-40 to St. Clair. The Saints, 3-0, jumped to a 21-5 lead and were in front 35-15 at the half. Morgan Taylor scored 13 points to lead the Mountaineers, Katie Goodburn had 25 for St. Clair.
Both Mountaineers’ teams will complete first semester play Wednesday (Nov. 25) when the Niagara Knights invade the Fennell Gymnasium. The women’s game will be at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s contest at 8 p.m.
