McCulloch-Casarsa, Bell advance in BMO figure skating competition

The 2010 BMO Skate Canada Challenge Competition was held this past weekend.

In the Senior Women’s division, Rylie McCulloch-Casarsa of the Burlington FSC finished fifth while club mate Kristy Bell was 11th. Both skaters now advance to the 2010 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships which take place Jan. 14-17, 2010 at the John Labatt Centre in London.

The following skaters advance 2010 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals, which will take place Jan. 11-14 at the Western Fair Sports Centre in London:

Elizabeth Liao of the BFSC placed 12th in the Junior Women’s section. In the Junior Dance section, Abby Carswell of the Scarboro FSC and partner Andrew Doleman of the Wentworth FC finished fourth.

Mackenzie Haining representing the BFSC scored an eighth place position in the Novice Women’s division and Aveline Pearson (HFSC) and Alexander Sheldrick (Kitchener-Waterloo FSC) clinched first in the Novice Pair.

Pre-Novice skaters competed for the title of Pre-Novice Champion of Canada. This category does not continue to a National event.

In the Pre-Novice Women class, Maysie Poliziani (HFSC) was 29th

The following skaters competed but do not advance: Rebecca Addison (Mariposa FSC) and Andrew Britten (BFSC), in Junior Dance; and Christina Liao, BFSC), in Novice Woman.
