Bruins keep perfect women’s cage record intact in OCAA play

The top ranked Oakville Sheridan Bruins kicked off the back half of their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s basketball season with a convincing 85-34 win over Algoma Thunderbirds. The Bruins were led by Samantha Scull who posted a double-double with 32 points and 12 rebounds, while Donisha Young chipped in 22 points to move the Bruins to 7-0 on the year.

Niagara handed Humber just its second loss on the year as the Knights defeated the Hawks, 58-50.

Whitney Jackson scored 16 points for the Knights in the win, while Rebecca Dietrich of Humber scored 15 in a losing effort. The Hawks bounced back later in the week, defeating the visiting Thunderbirds, 56-46. Dietrich was once again the top scorer for the Hawks with 10 points. Lara Stilin of Algoma scored a game high 15 points in the loss.

The St. Clair Saints showed a balanced attacked as they defeated the Niagara Knights 65-59. The Knights top scorer was Kaitlyn McKenna with 16 points.
