Late-game surge carries Marauders to OUA basketball win

The McMaster men’s basketball team wrestled the lead from the University of Waterloo with 1:30 remaining in the third quarter and never relinquished the advantage to defeat their guests, 69-54, at the Burridge Gymnasium on Wednesday night (March 17).

McMaster second-year forward Cameron Michaud (Grimsby) scored 22 points to pace the Marauders to the Ontario University Athletics win. McMaster third-year guard Tyrell Vernon (Hamilton) added 16 points and six rebounds for the Marauders.

Waterloo guard Cam McIntyre (Kitchener) scored 13 points to lead the Warriors. Waterloo will host cross-town rival Wilfrid Laurier on Saturday at 4 p.m. Both teams have 9-12 records.

McMaster (14-7) will travel to Windsor on Saturday (Feb. 20) for a 1 p.m. tip-off against the No. 8 Lancers, (16-5).

McMaster will host an OUA West Quarter-Final on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Time to be determined.
