Having lost, 5-2, to the Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg on Friday, the Hamilton Bulldogs could today (Sunday) wrap up their North Division semi-final at Copps Coliseum. The Moose staved off elimination from the American Hockey League playoffs but trail the Bulldogs, 3-2, in the best-of-seven series.
If a seventh game is required it will be played Tuesday night at Copps.
Manitoba had built up a 3-0 lead on the strength of two goals from Peter Olvecky and a single from Aaron Volpatti, before Hamilton got on the scoreboard at 4:45 of the third period. Andre Benoit’s unassisted goal was followed by David Desharnais’s power-play tally (Benoit and P.K. Subban assisted) at 11:08.
But two goals from Guillaume Desbiens at 14:19 and 18:54 gave the Moose the win.
Cory Schneider stopped 28 of 30 shots while Cedrick Desjardins faced 22 shots in the Hamilton net.
A crowd of 6,927 took in the game
Game time today is 7 p.m.
