Steel City Bowl goes under the lights and cameras

The 2010 Steel City Bowl will be broadcast live by Cable 14 on Friday (June 4).

The broadcast will start at 7 p.m. from Ivor Wynne Stadium.

The game involves high school football players and coaches from the Hamilton-Wentworth Public and the Hamilton-Wentworth Separate School systems.

The format, as in past years, will pit the East against the West. The East will wear black and be represented by players from St. Jean de Brebeuf, Barton, Sherwood, Cathedral, Bishop Ryan, Cardinal Newman, Delta, Sir Winston Churchill, Orchard Park, Saltfleet, and Glendale.

Wearing gold for the West will be players from St. Thomas More, Dundas Highland, Ancaster, Hill Park, Sir Allan MacNab, St. Mary’s, Dundas Parkside, Sir John A. MacDonald, Westdale, Waterdown, and Bishop Tonnos.

This year the teams will be playing for the inaugural Cable 14 Cup, as part of Cable 14’s commitment of supporting youth sport in the community.

The Honourary Chairs this year are David Braley and Ron Foxcroft.

The Steel City Bowl provides an opportunity for players in the area to showcase their talents. Coaches from Canadian and American colleges and Junior teams will be attending practices and the game.

Game tickets are $5 and are on sale game night at the Beechwood Avenue gate (north stands).

Cable 14 will also re-broadcast the game at noon on Saturday, June 5, Sunday, June 6, and Monday. June 7.
