Brian Lewis is joining the Department of Athletics and Recreation as the new Manager of Marketing, Communications, and Business Development for McMaster University.
Lewis, a Hamilton native, brings a wealth of experience to the position having previously served as chief operating officer with Hamilton Entertainment Convention Facilities Incorporated (HECFI) from 2006-09. On behalf of the City of Hamilton, HECFI operates the Ronald V. Joyce Centre for the Performing Arts at Hamilton Place, the Hamilton Convention Centre, and Copps Coliseum.
In 1997 Lewis joined the Hamilton Bulldogs as community and media relations director. He was appointed director of communications two years later and in 2000 he took on the role of marketing director. In 2002, Lewis assumed the position of vice president in sales and marketing and was promoted to executive director of operations two years later.
In the spring of 2005, the American Hockey League awarded Lewis with the Ken McKenzie Award. The award is given out annually to an individual who accomplishes the most during the season in promoting his or her AHL team.
Lewis also serves as the Board Chair for the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame.
He assumes his responsibilities at McMaster on Tuesday, June 15.
