T-Birds added to IBL all-star cast

Two members of the Hamilton Thunderbirds were named to the Intercounty Baseball League’s all-star team.

Pitcher Matt Martinow and infielder Chris Piano will take part in the 2010 All-Star Classic.

Martinow finished the regular season with a 2-1 record in seven starts with 33 strikeouts and a 2.91 ERA. Piano had 29 hits including two doubles, two triples and a homerun for a .279 batting average, along with 13 RBI during the regular season.

This year’s all-star game will see the IBL All-Stars take on the Senior Elite Baseball League (LBSEQ) All-Stars from Quebec in a four-game series. Games one and two will take place on Saturday, Aug. 21 and Sunday, Aug. 22 in Ottawa, while games three and four will be played in Thetford Mines, Quebec on Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5.
