The Durham Lords ran their record to 4-0 in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s fastball, taking a doubleheader from the Mohawk Mountaineers at Mohawk Sports Park on Tuesday (Sep. 21).
The Lords used two big innings for 8-2 and 7-5 victories over their hosts, now 2-2.
Mohawk led 2-1 in the fifth inning of the opener when the Lords batted around and scored five times. Krissy Miles beat Jessica Roloson in the mound battle.
Miles and Roloson were also the pitchers of record in the nightcap, but this time in relief. Mohawk scored four times in the fifth frame for a 5-1 lead and looked like they’d be able to get a split against the highly rated Lords. However, Durham started a seventh inning rally against Mountaineers’ starter Jessica Denstedt, and despite Roloson coming in, the visitors exploded for six runs to complete their sweep.
