Fast course challenges Mohawk runners

The Mohawk cross country team was off to the Fanshawe Invitational meet in London on Saturday (Sep. 25).

Emily Hicks was the top Mountaineer in the women’s five kilometre event, timed in 22:39.2. Sandi Bryce was 32nd in 23:38.7. Brittany Russell was 46th in 25:28.9. Christine Enes did not finish.

Deb Buhlers of host Fanshawe won in 18:35.2

In the men’s 8K, Josh Lamb was Mohawk’s best in 31:43.1. John Redfearn, who is nursing a sore leg, took it easy, but still finished 40th in 31:45.7. Luc Seguin was 52nd in 33:17.4. Mike Holmes did not finish, as he twisted his ankle, but the injury is not considered serious.

George Brown’s Amos Munyua was the winner, clocked in 26:43.8

Mohawk coach Wayne Collins said all runners had a good day. “This is one of the fastest courses we race on, so times were fast all around,” said Collins.
