The Mohawk Mountaineers, who struggled with three losses to start the annual Can Am women’s fastball tourney in Oshawa over the weekend, finished on a high note Sunday (Sep. 26) defeating Ontario Colleges Athletic Association rival Seneca Sting, 15-6.
Erika Downey pitched the first three innings for Mohawk and Jessica Denstedt tossed the final four.
Head coach Brian Weller said the team got hitting from top to bottom of the order and Denstedt helped her own cause, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two triples and a single.
Mohawk doesn’t get any time to rest as they get back into league play Monday (Sep. 27) at 5:30 when Conestoga visits Mohawk Sports Park. The Mountaineers already have two victories over the Condors this season.
