Condors have easy flight in women’s fastball

The Conestoga Condors jumped to a 6-0 lead after three innings and went on to a 7-3 victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s fastball at Mohawk Sports Park on Monday (Sep. 27).

The game, which saw the players endure the cold and misty rain, was called after the sixth inning.

Jessica Denstedt, who no-hit Conestoga in Kitchener the first night of the season, was tagged with the defeat in this one, allowing eight hits, striking out six and walking eight.

At the plate, Erika Downey, Melanie White, Sara Simmons and Julia Gelfand each had one hit. The Mountaineers saw their record fall to 2-4. It was Conestoga’s first win against seven defeats.
