Montreal gives Bulldogs a handful

Five more players have been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs from the parent Montreal Canadiens.

Three of the five – defenceman Mathieu Carle and forwards David Desharnais and Gabriel Dumont – played for the American Hockey League Bulldogs last season. Goaltender Peter Delmas and forward Andreas Engqvist were also assigned to Hamilton.

Thirty-one players are still at Montreal’s National Hockey League training camp, including three goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 18 forwards.

The Bulldogs season gets underway with their first pre-season game on Thursday (September 30) against the Binghamton Senators in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.

Hamilton opens its 15th AHL season on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7:35 p.m. when they travel to Rochester to battle the Americans.
