Perfect home record moves Warriors to third

The Stoney Creek Jr. B Warriors (4-2) moved into a third place tie with St. Catharines (4-2) after defeating the Falcons 5-2 at Valley Park Arena. With the win the Warriors remain undefeated (3-0) at home this season in Golden Horseshoe Conference play in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Stoney Creek was led by goaltender Chris Miniaci who put on a clinic stopping 37 of 39 shots. Miniaci moves to 3-0 on the Junior B season with a 2.99 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .906.

Luke Watson and Marcus Ruberto had three-point nights. Watson now has four goals and four assists while Marcus Ruberto tied his brother, David, in scoring with 13 points. David has six markers and seven helpers while Marcus has a 4-9 record. Danny Carter picked up a goal and an assist, while Ryan Wilkinson, Mike Casale (seven points this season), Myles Falasco (six points) and Anthony Whitwell picked up an assist each.

The Warriors next home game is set for Saturday (Oct. 2) when the Western Conference’s St. Marys Lincoln’s (3-3) come to town. Game time at Valley Park Arena is 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Oct. 7 the red hot first place Thorold Blackhawks (8-0) will rumble into town. Game time at Valley Park is 7:30 p.m.
