Two first half goals by Adam Bond propelled the Mohawk men’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over the Conestoga Condors at Mohawk Sports Park on Tuesday (Oct. 5).
Matthew Kernick’s second half marker in heavy rain was icing on the cake for the Mountaineers, who improved their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association record to 4-0-2. Mohawk head coach Richard Bennett said his charges were much better prepared for this game, although he was a bit dismayed over the chances his squad missed throughout the game, even in the inclement conditions.
“We were pumped up,” said Bennett. “We want to put pressure on the top team (Sheridan), which is 5-0-1 and still has to play Humber. We are still in the hunt for first place.”
The Mountaineers are tied with Humber Hawks, just two points back of the Bruins.
