Mountaineers keep rolling along in rugby


Make it two straight blowouts for the Mohawk Rugby team.

The Mountaineers, the defending Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Division One champions flattened Conestoga 70-12 in Kitchener on Thursday (Oct. 7). Chris VanSickle led the way with three tries and five conversions for 25 points. Adam Davidson, Joel Clarke, Alex Houston and Joshua Moore had two tries each and Alec Stewart added one.

Mohawk has scored 133 points in its last two games, while allowing only 29. Overall this season the Mountaineers have 207 points for and 63 against.

They are now 4-0 and have also collected three bonus points. Mohawk sit first with 19 total points, nine more than second place Humber, which is 2-2, Conestoga fell to 1-3.
