Mohawk runners compete at London x-country meet

Fanshawe College continues to excel in cross country running. The athletes from London won both the individual and team honours in the men’s and women’s divisions at the St. Clair Invitational meet in Windsor on Saturday (Oct. 16).

Liliane Sparkes of Fanshawe won the women’s five kilometre event in 18:18.4.

Emily Hicks was Mohawk’s top runner, finishing 24th in 21:58.4. Sandi Bryce placed 37th in 23:32.9 and Brittany Russell clocked 24:26.8 to finish 43rd. Mohawk was one runner short to be counted in the team competition.

Clint Smith of Fanshawe won the men’s 8K race in 26:56.4.

Jon Redfearn was Mohawk’s best in 19th place. His time was 30:32.8. Josh Lamb was 40th in 32:59.7, Sean Lulgiuraj was 61st in 37:27.9 and Luc Seguin wound up 65th in 38:05.1.

Mohawk was ninth as a team.
