Rugby Mountaineers remain unbeaten

Reigning Ontario Colleges Athletic Association champion Mohawk made it five straight regular season wins in men’s rugby, with a 45-14 verdict over the Conestoga Condors at Mohawk Sports Park on Saturday (Oct. 16).

The Mountaineers jumped to a 10-0 lead but then got a bit sloppy. Still they managed to keep the Condors at bay until very late. Conestoga’s two tries came in the final 10 minutes.

Chris VanSickle once again led Mohawk with one try, a penalty goal and six conversions for 20 points. Alec Stewart scored three tries, Eric Moyer and Graham McKelvey each had one try.

Mohawk’s next action is Saturday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. when the Seneca Sting visit Mohawk Sports Park.
