Mohawk men rally then drop in volleyball at Durham Invitational

A win and a Loss for Mohawk on day one of the Durham Invitational Men’s Volleyball Tournament in Oshawa Friday (Oct. 22).

It was a great battle in the opener as Mohawk rallied and downed Loyalist Lancers of Belleville 3-2 (18-25, 19-25, 25-20, 30-28, 15-12). Justin Scapinello put up some great offensive numbers with 22 kills, four stuff blocks and two aces. Phil Youngblut had six kills, eight blocks and three aces.

The Seneca Sting beat Mohawk 3-1 in the second match. The scores were 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25. Mo Sulaiman led the Mountaineers with 13 kills, one stuff block and one ace, while Kevin Teskey had one kill and 10 blocks.

Mohawk will meet the Excalibur from Trent University Saturday at 11:00 am to complete pool play and determine who they play next.
