Mountaineers wins in women’s volleyball, men’s basketball

Mohawk College posted comfortable wins in two different sports in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday (Oct. 30).

The women’s volleyball team swept Sault College, 3-0, to push its record to 3-0 in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Region standings. The Cougars dropped to 0-3.

Meanwhile, the Mohawk men’s basketball team is now 2-1 after a 90-64 verdict over Sault College, which was playing its first game of the regular season. Sault College does not have a women’s basketball team.

On Friday night, the Mohawk men were victorious, but the women were defeated in OCAA basketball at Algoma University in the Soo.

The Mountaineer scored a 66-60 victory over the Thunderbirds. The Mohawk women fell to 0-2, as Algoma won its season opener, 61-52.
