Griffins end six-game home win streak for Bulldogs

The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Grand Rapids Griffins 2-1 at Copps Coliseum on Sunday. The loss snapped a six-game home winning streak that the Bulldogs were on.

The Griffins scored the game’s first goal at 8:53 of the opening stanza. Chris Minard fired a shot towards the net that banked off a Bulldogs defender and onto the stick of Francis Pare. Pare ripped a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford.

The ‘Dogs tied the game 1-1 at 1:31 of the final frame with a power-play marker. Brendon Nash sent the puck to Ryan White, who proceeded to dish the puck to Yannick Weber, who was positioned along the left side boards. Weber blasted a shot that squeaked through the pads of Grand Rapids starting goaltender Thomas McCollum.

Brendon Straub gave the Griffins a 2-1 lead at 7:11 of the third stanza. Brent Raedeke fired a shot on net that was stopped by Sanford. The puck became loose in the crease, allowing Straub to jam the puck past Sanford and into the net.

The ‘Dogs will host their archrival the Toronto Marlies on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
